MLB Opening Day 2016

We are 6 days away from Opening Day of the 2016 MLB season.  I find myself very intrigued about how the Pittsburgh Pirates will fair this season. The Pirates are coming off yet another very impressive regular season campaign that was abruptly derailed by Chicago Cubs ace, Jake Arrieta.

I want to be optimistic that the team will be able to put together another solid campaign, however the pirates lost pitcher J.A. Happ, first baseman and primary power source Pedro Alvarez, and the home town product, second baseman Neil Walker to free agency.

To further the blow, first year stand out Jung Ho Kang will not be ready for at least a month as he is still recovering from last seasons injury, and the pirates have not done much in make an attempt to replace the players that they have lost.

I'm going to try to have faith the team will overcome the losses but will not be surprised if they fail to make the postseason in 2016.

  1. Even though I am not a Pirates fan, I find it funny how the MLB and all of their fans underestimate the Pirates every year. Even though they lost a lot of key pieces in the offseason I still believe the Pirates will be a very tough team to beat in 2016!

  2. I still believe the Pirates will find a way to have a good season. Playoffs are debatable for me with the guys we lost it requires some players to step up!
